The energy section tracks how electricity is made and used, in the United States and around the world. The US charts use the Energy Information Administration's figures: electricity prices, generation and consumption for every state, plus wind power by state. Many of the global charts use Ember's yearly electricity data and compare countries by solar, wind, nuclear, gas and coal generation and by how clean their power is.

Hawaii had the most expensive residential electricity in 2025 at 40.59 cents per kilowatt-hour, ahead of California at 32.54 cents. Texas has 43,987 megawatts of wind capacity, more than three times Oklahoma's 13,741. China generated 1,174.9 terawatt-hours of solar power in 2025, about three times the United States' 388.8, and Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Paraguay produced all of their electricity from clean sources.

There are also lists of the world's largest power stations of each type, led by China's Three Gorges Dam at 22,500 megawatts.
