Clean Electricity Share by Country 2024
About This Dataset
Clean Electricity Share by Country 2024Six countries ran on effectively 100% clean electricity in 2024: Bhutan, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Iceland, Nepal and Paraguay, every one of them dominated by hydropower. Costa Rica and Uruguay follow at 99.9% and 98.9%. The largest grid anywhere near the top is France at 94.9%, and it gets there through nuclear rather than hydro, on 562 TWh of generation - more than three times the output of Sweden or Norway. Every country above 94% here leans on one dominant clean source rather than a balanced mix, which is why the list is so geographically uneven.
