Public EV Charging Points by Country 2025
About This Dataset
Public EV Charging Points by Country 2025
What this chart shows. The 25 countries with the most publicly available charging points for electric vehicles in 2025, counting slow, fast and ultra-fast points together. China had about 4.68 million, around 67% of the world total of 6.97 million. South Korea was second with 491,170 and the United States third with 240,000.
How the data is collected. The IEA's Global EV Data Explorer reports public charging points in three speed classes, slow, fast and ultra-fast. Each value in this chart is the sum of the three classes for one country. Private chargers, such as those installed at homes, are not included.
Background. The world added about 1.62 million public charging points in 2025, reaching 6.97 million from 5.35 million. South Korea's network is mostly slow chargers, about 90% of its points. Set against the electric car fleet, South Korea had about 1.7 electric cars per public point, while Norway had about 35, the most among countries in both charts.
Limits. For Japan, Vietnam, Brazil and Thailand, the IEA gives no ultra-fast figure for 2025, so their totals include only slow and fast points. Each class is rounded to two significant figures before being added up. Counts of points say nothing about how often chargers work or how busy they are.
