Countries with the Most CentenariansJapan (120,000) dominates, hosting nearly twice as many centenarians as the second-place United States (64,000) despite having less than half the US population - a striking measure of Japanese longevity. The US in turn far outnumbers China (39,000), whose much larger but younger population produces fewer people over 100. A cluster of European nations then follows: France (29,000, tied with India), Italy (21,000), Germany and the UK (18,000 each) and Spain (14,000), with Russia (13,000) closing the list. The pattern shows two drivers of centenarian counts - sheer population size and high life expectancy - with Japan and Western Europe leading on longevity, while populous Asian nations rank via size despite younger age structures.
