About This Dataset
Top 10 Countries and Territories by Age-Standardised Adult Diabetes Prevalence, 2024
Pakistan leads Table 3.5 at 31.4%, followed by the Marshall Islands at 25.7% and Kuwait at 25.6%. All ten countries and territories in the Atlas’s 2024 age-standardised ranking are included. Qatar and Kiribati are tied at 24.6% at the reported precision.
The IDF Diabetes Atlas, 11th edition (2025), estimates diabetes in adults aged 20–79 for 2024, including diagnosed and undiagnosed cases. These are modelled population estimates, not a count of clinic registrations. They are not new 2026 measurements. The comparison provides background for World Diabetes Day on November 14.
Age standardisation reduces the influence of different population age structures when comparing countries. These percentages are not crude prevalence and should not be multiplied by the total population to estimate case counts. Qatar is flagged by IDF as an extrapolated estimate without an in-country data source. Rankings inherit the Atlas’s modelling uncertainty; small differences are not proof of meaningful differences.
Sources checked October 26, 2026. Equal values represent ties; display order does not break a tie.

Analysis
Pakistan exceeds the Marshall Islands by 5.7 percentage points. Comparing this rate ranking with the case-count ranking answers a different question: relative prevalence versus the absolute number of adults affected.
