About This Dataset

Top 10 Peanut-Producing US States, 2025
Georgia leads this top 10 ranking with 3,667.3 million pounds in the 2025 crop year. Alabama follows with 652.8 million pounds. The first three states account for 69.9% of the combined published state estimates for this crop.

The source is USDA NASS State Agriculture Overviews for 2025, retrieved on October 20, 2026. We checked the numeric production estimates across the state pages. 11 states have a numeric estimate for this crop; only the ten largest are shown here.

Peanut production is shown by crop weight in pounds. It is not a count of farms, planted acres, peanut butter output or peanut oil production. Comparing total crop volume also does not identify the state with the best yield per acre. Original production counts are divided by 1,000,000 to express the values in million pounds. No additional rounding is applied to the stored counts.

These are production estimates for the 2025 harvest, not 2026 forecasts. USDA may revise estimates; the overview snapshot is the reference for this ranking. Missing or unpublished state values are not converted to zero. The three-state share uses the combined reported estimates, not an assumed all-state national total.
Analysis

The gap between Georgia and Alabama is 3,014.5 million pounds. Rank is based on total crop production, not the state's land area or exports.
