About This Dataset
Top 10 Cotton-Producing US States, 2025
Texas leads this top 10 ranking with 5,265 thousand 480-pound bales in the 2025 crop year. Georgia follows with 1,775 thousand 480-pound bales.
The chart uses USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) State Agriculture Overviews for 2025, retrieved on October 20, 2026. We checked all 50 state pages and ranked the 17 states with a published numeric production estimate for this crop. Only the ten largest estimates are shown.
All cotton includes Upland and American Pima. One bale has a net weight of 480 pounds; cottonseed is excluded. Production is reported in thousand 480-pound bales. Source bale counts are divided by 1,000. The converted values preserve the precision of the source counts.
These are survey-based production estimates for the 2025 harvest, not 2026 forecasts, exports or farm revenue. The overview figures incorporate revisions after the January 2026 annual summary. Missing or unreported state values are not treated as zero; this is not a complete 50-state table.
