About This Dataset

Top 10 Wheat-Producing US States, 2025
Kansas leads this top 10 ranking with 346.8 million bushels in the 2025 crop year. North Dakota follows with 334.055 million bushels.

The chart uses USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) State Agriculture Overviews for 2025, retrieved on October 20, 2026. We checked all 50 state pages and ranked the 36 states with a published numeric production estimate for this crop. Only the ten largest estimates are shown.

All wheat combines winter wheat, other spring wheat and durum. These components are not added again to the all-wheat total. Production is reported in million bushels. Source production counts are divided by 1,000,000. The converted values preserve the precision of the source counts.

These are survey-based production estimates for the 2025 harvest, not 2026 forecasts, exports or farm revenue. The overview figures incorporate revisions after the January 2026 annual summary. Missing or unreported state values are not treated as zero; this is not a complete 50-state table.
Analysis

The gap between Kansas and North Dakota is 12.745 million bushels. This ranking compares total wheat output; it does not identify the highest yield per acre.
