What this chart shows. The 25 countries that produced the most natural honey in 2024, in tonnes. China led with 444,800 tonnes, 22.4 per cent of the world's 1,987,520, followed by India with 146,000 and Türkiye with 95,492.
How the data is collected. The figures come from FAOSTAT, the statistics database of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, which collects national production data through annual questionnaires and fills gaps with its own estimates. The item is natural honey, measured in tonnes; FAO marks each figure as official, estimated or imputed.
Background. China produced 3.0 times as much honey as India, the second-largest producer. Ethiopia, fourth with 85,960 tonnes, is the largest producer in Africa on this chart.
Limits. Ethiopia's figure, like several others, is imputed by FAO rather than reported by the country. Production figures say nothing about honey quality or about how much honey each country exports.
