Most-Read Russian Wikipedia Articles 2025

What this chart shows. The twenty most-opened articles on Russian Wikipedia in 2025, the third busiest edition of the encyclopedia by views. The ranking is counted from Wikimedia pageview data rather than taken from a published list, because no annual list exists for this edition.

How the data is collected. Monthly top lists for the year supplied the candidates, each candidate was then measured exactly over the twelve months, and titles that now redirect elsewhere were added to their destination. Those routes carry more weight here than on the Spanish list: they account for 4,010,974 views across the twenty, including 729,973 for the article on the invasion of Ukraine, which was renamed during the period, and 719,192 for the actor Yura Borisov.

Background. The same two screens used for the published English and Spanish rankings were applied, removing pages whose desktop share is under 6 percent or over 80 percent, along with articles about websites and apps. The largest single exclusion is the article about Yandex, which recorded 101,834,629 views, 18.2 times the most-read article that survives the screen, and the social network YaRUS, on 6,708,819 views of which 93.2 percent came from desktop.

Limits. The website rule also takes out YouTube on 6,533,655 views, the image host IMGSRC.RU on 5,991,465, VK on 2,589,348 and Telegram on 2,040,698. The bottom of the list is narrow: twentieth place stands 4,255 views above the first article left out, and the third season of Squid Game, on 2,152,688 views, falls outside as well.
