Highest Volcanoes That Erupted in 2025

The 15 highest volcanoes among the 63 that the Smithsonian lists as erupting at some point during 2025, ranked by summit elevation in metres above sea level.

How the data is collected
The volcanoes come from the Global Volcanism Program's list of eruptions active in 2025. Each was matched to its entry in the program's Holocene volcano table, published through its public web services, and the elevation is the value given in that table. Two names are written differently in the two sources, Ol Doinyo Lengai and Nevado del Ruiz, and were matched by hand.

Background
The Volcanoes of the World database, which the Smithsonian's Global Volcanism Program maintains, records a primary volcano type, a tectonic setting and a summit elevation for every Holocene volcano. The program's answer to how many active volcanoes there are is that it depends on how the word "active" is used, and that at least 20 volcanoes will probably be erupting at any moment.

Limits
Elevation describes the mountain, not the eruption: the vent that was active in 2025 may lie well below the summit. Summit heights can change after large eruptions and are revised as surveys improve. The ranking also includes volcanoes whose 2025 activity was small, since the source list covers all confirmed eruptions regardless of size.
