Shortest Orbits of Exoplanets Discovered in 2025The 15 exoplanets discovered in 2025 with the shortest orbital periods, meaning the least time to complete one orbit of their star. Periods are shown in hours, converted from the archive's values in days, and the shortest is ranked first.
How the data is collected
The Orbital Period values come from the NASA Exoplanet Archive's composite table. Of the 245 planets with a 2025 discovery year, 217 have an orbital period listed. For every planet in this chart the period is taken from a published paper, and none is a value calculated by the archive.
Background
The archive describes its composite table as a more filled-in version of its per-reference table, and as more complete though not necessarily self-consistent. The planets in this chart were found by the Zwicky Transient Facility, TESS, SuperWASP and the Calar Alto Observatory, according to the archive's discovery facility field.
Limits
The 28 planets from 2025 with no listed period, 21 found by microlensing and 7 by imaging, cannot appear in this ranking. A short period says nothing on its own about temperature or size. Periods are rounded here to two decimal places in hours, while the source gives them to several more decimal places in days.
ZTF J1828+2308 b has the shortest orbit of any planet discovered in 2025, circling its star in 2.69 hours. ZTF J1230-2655 b is second at 5.66 hours, and both came from the Zwicky Transient Facility. TOI-6324 b completes an orbit in 6.70 hours. Five of the 2025 discoveries orbit in less than a day, and the fifth, TOI-5736 b, takes 15.58 hours. Eleven of the 15 were found by TESS. G 268-110 b, at 34.38 hours, is the only radial velocity planet in the list.
