Soybean Production by Country, 1990-2024

About This Dataset

Soybean Production by Country, 1990-2024
Brazil has overtaken the United States to become the world's largest soybean producer, growing output more than sevenfold since 1990 while the United States roughly doubled its own. Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia expanded on a similar scale, making South America collectively dominant in a crop the United States led for most of the twentieth century. The driver is largely Chinese demand: soybeans are crushed for animal feed, and China imports more than the rest of the world combined.
