About This Dataset

Maize (Corn) Production by Country, 1990-2024
The United States still grows more maize than any other country, but its share has fallen sharply because everyone else grew faster. China has tripled output since 1990, Brazil has more than quintupled it, and Argentina has increased production roughly tenfold. Most of that new supply does not feed people directly: maize is overwhelmingly an animal feed and industrial crop, and the South American expansion tracks the growth of Chinese demand for meat.
