Natural Rubber Production by Country, 1990-2024

About This Dataset

Natural Rubber Production by Country, 1990-2024
Natural rubber production has shifted continent since 1990. Thailand and Indonesia still lead, but the two most dramatic movers are going in opposite directions. Ivory Coast has grown more than twentyfold, from 74,000 tonnes to 1.69 million, and is now the world's third-largest producer, having overtaken Vietnam. Malaysia has gone the other way: second in the world in 1990, it has since lost roughly seventy per cent of its output and sits eighth, as growers switched land to more profitable palm oil. Ghana's rise is proportionally steeper still, though from a very small base. Figures are FAOSTAT production data, most of it reported by national governments.
