Countries ranked by total milled rice production in 2025, measured in million metric tonnes according to USDA World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates and FAO FAOSTAT crop data. China is the world's largest rice producer — cultivating the crop across the Yangtze River Delta, Sichuan Basin, and Pearl River region in a system of double and triple cropping that extracts multiple harvests per year from the same paddies.
