Countries ranked by total corn and maize production in 2024, measured in millions of metric tons according to USDA WASDE data. The United States produces approximately 31% of the world's corn — most of it used for animal feed, ethanol fuel production, and industrial starch processing rather than direct human consumption. The US Corn Belt states of Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and Minnesota together produce more corn than most countries produce of any crop.
