10 Largest Published US State Christmas-Tree Sales Estimates, 2024

Oregon recorded 3,267 thousand cultivated Christmas trees sold in 2024, followed by North Carolina (2,454 thousand) and Michigan (1,497 thousand). These are the ten largest published state values in the All sales — Number column of USDA NASS’s 2024 Census of Horticultural Specialties, Table 17, printed page 439. The source already rounds counts to thousands. The census covers operations producing and selling at least $10,000 of horticultural specialty crops in 2024. Values combine wholesale and retail sales of cultivated cut trees grown by those operations. They are not all trees cut, all retail purchases including imports, living balled-and-burlapped trees, revenue or the 2026 harvest. The scope differs from the broader 2022 Census of Agriculture. Alaska, Hawaii and Utah have suppressed sales counts marked D, hence the qualification published estimates. The US total is 10,985 thousand trees. Washington and Virginia differ by only one thousand in rounded values. Christmas 2026 shopping is a plausible seasonal hook.
