About This Dataset
Commercial Apple Production in Seven USDA-Reported US States, 2025
Washington produced 7,540 million pounds of commercial apples in 2025, ahead of New York at 1,495 million and Michigan at 1,065 million. All seven state estimates in USDA NASS’s May 2026 summary, page 13, are included. These are 2025 production estimates, not a 2026 harvest forecast.
Values come from the 2025 Total production column, already expressed in million pounds. They include production that was harvested but not sold, so they differ from utilized production, fresh-market sales and processing volumes. For example, Washington’s total is 7,540 million pounds versus utilized production of 7,163 million. This is the report’s seven-state commercial survey scope, not a ranking of every US state or a count of apples sold for Thanksgiving.
The seven values sum to the report’s US total of 11,102 million pounds. The chart offers harvest context ahead of the autumn and Thanksgiving season; it does not measure holiday purchases, apple-pie consumption or rising search interest.
Sources checked October 28, 2026. Equal values are ties; display order does not break a tie.
