About This Dataset
Industrial Electricity Prices by State 2024EIA compiles annual electricity sales and revenue from the EIA-861 family of forms. The average retail price is revenue divided by electricity sold within the selected sector or combined sectors.
The industrial sector has its own customer mix. EIA warns that customer reclassification can affect sector comparisons.
These are annual state averages for 2024, not current tariffs or individual price quotes. Customer accounts are not people. Washington, DC, territories and regional totals are excluded. Values are rounded to two decimal places.
California has an industrial price of 21.53 US cents/kWh, below Hawaii at 34.13. New Mexico has the smallest value, 5.43. 23 states exceed the US benchmark of 8.13 US cents/kWh. The benchmark uses sales weights and includes Washington, DC.
