About This Dataset

10 EU Countries with the Highest Household Electricity Prices, First Half of 2026
Ireland has the highest average household electricity price among all 27 EU countries in the first half of 2026, at 38.71 euro cents per kWh. These are January–June observations, not October tariffs or a winter forecast. Eurostat dataset nrg_pc_204 covers consumption band DC: households using 2,500–4,999 kWh annually, with all taxes and levies included (I_TAX), currency EUR and unit KWH. Source euros per kWh are multiplied by 100 to obtain euro cents. The chart selects the ten highest country values; the EU aggregate, 28.32 cents, is a benchmark and is not ranked as a country. Poland’s 29.99 cents is provisional. No tie occurs at the tenth-place cutoff. Euro prices can reflect exchange rates and are not adjusted for purchasing power, income or different consumption levels. National average prices do not represent every household contract. Eurostat’s October 30 release provides a current news hook, while approaching winter offers plausible seasonal relevance; rising search interest has not been measured.
Analysis

Ireland exceeds the EU benchmark by 10.39 euro cents/kWh, or 36.7%. Nine of the 27 country averages are above that benchmark; tenth-ranked Finland is below it. The gap from Ireland to Finland is 11.77 cents/kWh.
