About This Dataset
10 Highest Reported EU Household Gas Prices, First Half of 2026
Sweden leads the ten highest publicly reported EU household natural gas prices for January–June 2026, at 22.01 euro cents/kWh. The selection ranks 23 EU countries with numeric observations in Eurostat nrg_pc_202, using natural gas G3000, consumption band D2 (20–199 GJ annually), all taxes and levies included (I_TAX), EUR and KWH. Published euros per kWh are multiplied by 100. Cyprus, Malta and Finland do not report household gas prices; Poland’s data are confidential. Their missing values are not zero, so this is a ranking of reported estimates rather than a claim covering every member state. The EU aggregate of 11.03 cents/kWh is shown here only as a benchmark in the analysis. No cutoff tie occurs. Prices are not purchasing-power adjusted and do not measure total heating bills, gas access or the costs of alternative heating systems. They are first-half averages, not current spot prices or winter 2026–27 forecasts. The October 30 Eurostat release and approaching heating season supply news and plausible seasonal hooks; increasing search interest has not been measured.
Analysis
Sweden’s reported price is 10.98 cents/kWh above the EU aggregate, almost twice that benchmark. Nine of the 23 reported national prices exceed 11.03 cents; Czechia, tenth, does not. Sweden exceeds second-ranked Netherlands by 5.79 cents/kWh.
