About This Dataset
Most Common Wind Turbine Manufacturers in the US 2026
What this chart shows. The 15 manufacturers with the most wind turbines in the U.S. Wind Turbine Database, counting turbines of all ages that are still standing. GE Wind accounts for 35,326 turbines, 45.4% of the 77,839 in the database, nearly twice as many as Vestas with 18,247.
How the data is collected. The manufacturer and model of each turbine come from project records, industry data supplied by the American Clean Power Association and the aviation filings that start each entry. Names are kept as recorded, so a company that changed its name or merged appears under each name it used.
Background. Siemens, Gamesa and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, which merged in 2017, together account for 10,173 turbines. Among turbines built since 2021, GE Wind supplied 6,836 and Vestas 3,125 of the 14,279 in the database. Several names on the list, including Mitsubishi, Suzlon and Acciona, have no turbines built since 2021, a sign of how the market has consolidated.
Limits. 4,866 turbines have no manufacturer recorded, 2,269 of them built since 2021, and are left out. Counting turbines rather than capacity favours makers of older, smaller machines. GE Wind is listed under its recorded name, which covers turbines from GE's wind business before and after it became GE Vernova.
