What this chart shows. The 20 players with the most assists per game in the 2025-26 NBA regular season. Nikola Jokić led with 10.7, the only player above 10, followed by Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons with 9.9 and Luka Dončić with 8.3.
How the data is collected. An assist is credited for a pass that leads directly to a made basket. The ranking uses Basketball-Reference's season totals, divided by games played, for the players who appeared in at least 58 games; this reproduces Basketball-Reference's own assists leader list.
Background. Nikola Jokić is a centre, yet he led the league in both assists and rebounds. LeBron James, at 41 the oldest qualified player of the season, averaged 7.2 assists in 60 games.
Limits. Assists are awarded by official scorers and there is some judgement in what counts, which varies slightly between arenas. Averages are rounded to one decimal, which hides small differences between neighbours.
