Video memory decides which texture settings a game can use, and it is the specification PC players argue about most. This chart shows how much VRAM Steam machines report in the August 2026 survey, as a share of surveyed users.
Analysis
16 GB is the most common amount of video memory at 26.92%, followed by 8 GB on 25.74%. Only 49.2% of surveyed machines have 12 GB or more, which is the figure worth holding against the recommended specifications of recent releases. The top three amounts cover 65.6% of users between them, and the distribution is far more concentrated than the graphics-card ranking it comes from.
