How Much RAM PC Gamers Actually Have
Valve's monthly hardware survey records how much system memory Steam machines have installed. This chart shows the distribution of system RAM in the August 2026 survey, as a share of surveyed users.
Analysis
16 GB is the most common configuration at 41.2%, with 32 GB close behind on 37.45% - together they cover 78.7% of surveyed machines. 87.5% of users now have 16 GB or more, while 8 GB, long the standard, is down to 7.46%. The distribution is unusually concentrated compared with graphics cards: two options account for most of the market, where the twelve most common graphics cards together reach only a third of users.
