Most Common Screen Resolutions Among PC Gamers
Valve's monthly hardware survey records the primary display resolution of the machines Steam runs on. This chart shows the most common primary resolutions in the August 2026 survey as a share of surveyed users; the survey's "Other" bucket is excluded.
Analysis
1080p remains the default: 50.52% of surveyed machines run at 1920 x 1080, more than twice the 21.86% on 2560 x 1440. 4K is still marginal at 4.98%: 3840 x 2160 is used by fewer than one surveyed gamer in 20. Those three sizes together cover 77.4% of surveyed users, and every other resolution here sits below 5.71% - a long tail of ultrawide, laptop and handheld panels.
