Meat Production by Country 2022
About This Dataset
Meat Production by Country 2022
Total meat produced in 2022, in tonnes of carcass weight, as recorded by the Food and Agriculture Organization. All species are counted together - poultry, pig, cattle, sheep and goat - so a country built on chicken ranks alongside one built on beef even though the land and feed each needs differ enormously.
Analysis
China produced 92,948,520 tonnes of meat in 2022, 25.8% of the 360,617,700 tonnes produced worldwide that year and 2.0 times the 47,530,724 tonnes of the United States. The 15 countries here account for 70.1% of world output. 5 of them passed 10 million tonnes. The smallest producer on this chart, Vietnam, made 4,730,438 tonnes.
