About This Dataset
Orbital Launch Attempts by Country 2025
Every attempt to place a payload in orbit during the 2025 calendar year, counted by the country the launch vehicle comes from rather than the country of the payload or of the launch site. Failed attempts are included. Suborbital flights and test hops that never targeted orbit are excluded.
Analysis
330 orbital launches were attempted in 2025 and 317 reached orbit. The United States accounted for 198 of them, 60.0% of the world total and 2.1 times the 93 of China. Together the top two flew 88.2% of all attempts, leaving 39 launches for the other 10 countries. 4 countries attempted a single launch, and 3 ended the year without reaching orbit.
