Countries That Catch the Most Fish 2024

About This Dataset

Countries That Catch the Most Fish 2024
Countries ranked by capture fisheries (million tonnes) in 2024, using World Bank figures for the 215 countries that reported that year. China leads on 13.26, ahead of Indonesia (7.82) and India (6.36). Fish caught in the wild, in tonnes, excluding fish farming. Catches are reported by the fishing nation, so a fleet working in distant waters counts against its home country.
Analysis

China (13.26), Indonesia (7.82) and India (6.36) take the top three. Across the twenty shown, values run from 13.26 down to 0.91, a spread of 12.35. China is 1.70 times Indonesia, the country in second place. 2 of the 20 reach half the leading figure, 6.63 or more.
