The International has been won by eleven different organisations, the most open record of any major esport. OG's back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2019 were the first successful defence in the tournament's history, later matched by Team Spirit. No organisation has ever won three. The tournament's crowdfunded prize pools made it the richest event in esports for most of the past decade.
