About This Dataset
Largest Airlines in the World by Fleet Size (2026)The three big US network carriers occupy the top of the ranking, with United (1,090 aircraft), American (1,013) and Delta (989) each operating close to or above a thousand aircraft. China's rapidly expanded market is the second force here, placing three carriers in the top ten: China Southern (850), China Eastern (664) and Air China (510). Southwest (810) stands out as the world's largest low-cost operator by fleet, while Ryanair (643) is Europe's biggest airline. SkyWest (579), a US regional carrier, ranks eighth despite operating largely on behalf of the majors. The data shows that global airline scale is concentrated almost entirely in the United States and China, which together account for seven of the ten largest fleets.
