Cities With the Most Billionaires (Hurun)
About This Dataset
Cities With the Most Billionaires (Hurun)
The Hurun Research Institute publishes its own annual billionaire census, using a lower wealth threshold and a wider net in Asia than other compilers. This chart shows its 2026 count by city, which ranks the same cities differently from the Forbes list.
Analysis
New York City leads with 146 billionaires, 1.11 times Shenzhen on 132. The striking part is how much this differs from the Forbes count of the same cities: Shenzhen appears second here with 132, while the Forbes list is led by New York City on 123 - a difference of 23 for New York City alone. 5 of these 12 cities are in Greater China, which is the main reason the two lists diverge.
