Billionaire counts are compiled by wealth researchers who assign each person to a primary city of residence. This chart uses the Forbes 2025 count; a second chart on this site shows the Hurun Research Institute count, which reaches different numbers for the same cities.
Analysis
New York City has the most billionaires with 123, ahead of Moscow on 90. The 10 cities here are home to 723 billionaires between them, and New York City alone accounts for 17% of that. Counts like these depend entirely on where a researcher decides someone lives, which is why the Forbes and Hurun lists disagree: Hurun puts New York City on 146, 23 higher than the Forbes figure for the same city.
