Orbital Launch Attempts by Country 2023
Every attempt to place a payload in orbit during the 2023 calendar year, credited to the country the launch vehicle comes from rather than to the payload or the launch site. Failed attempts count. Suborbital flights and test hops that never targeted orbit are excluded.
Analysis
223 orbital launches were attempted in 2023 and 211 reached orbit. The United States flew 116 of them, 52.0% of the world total and 1.7 times the 67 of China. Together the top two flew 82.1% of all attempts, leaving 40 for the other 9 countries. 7 of the 11 countries attempted three launches or fewer.
