Orbital Launch Attempts by Country 2024
Every attempt to place a payload in orbit during the 2024 calendar year, credited to the country the launch vehicle comes from rather than to the payload or the launch site. Failed attempts count. Suborbital flights and test hops that never targeted orbit are excluded.
Analysis
261 orbital launches were attempted in 2024 and 253 reached orbit. The United States flew 156 of them, 59.8% of the world total and 2.3 times the 68 of China. Together the top two flew 85.8% of all attempts, leaving 37 for the other 7 countries. 5 of the 9 countries attempted five launches or fewer.
