Gold Production by Country 2024
Gold pulled out of the ground in 2024, in tonnes, as estimated by the U.S. Geological Survey. The figures are primary mine production only: recycled gold, which supplies roughly a quarter of world demand in a typical year, is not counted, and neither is refining done on imported ore. The USGS rounds each country to the nearest ten tonnes, so the listed figures do not add exactly to its world total.
Analysis
China mined 380 tonnes in 2024, 11.5% of the 3,300 tonnes produced worldwide and 1.2 times the 310 tonnes of Russia. The 17 countries named here account for 2,470 tonnes, 74.8% of world output; the rest is spread across producers too small to list separately. 12 countries mined 100 tonnes or more. The smallest producer listed, Burkina Faso, mined 60 tonnes.
