Power reactors with construction formally under way in 2026, as recorded by the IAEA. A reactor enters this count on the date of first concrete for its base slab, so units that are announced, licensed or ordered but not yet poured are excluded, as are research reactors.
Analysis
China is building 37 of the 72 reactors under construction worldwide, 51.4% of the global total and 6.2 times the 6 of India. 3 of the 16 countries here have no reactor in operation yet: Egypt, Turkey and Bangladesh. 5 countries are building a single unit. Outside the leader no country has more than 6 under way.
