Countries with the Most Renewable Electricity 2020
Countries ranked by renewable share of electricity (%) in 2020, using World Bank figures for the 204 countries that reported that year. Bhutan leads on 100.0, ahead of Lesotho (99.9) and Costa Rica (98.9). The share of electricity generated from renewable sources, which for several leaders is almost entirely hydropower. It covers electricity only, not heating or transport fuel.
Analysis

Bhutan (100.0), Lesotho (99.9) and Costa Rica (98.9) take the top three. Across the twenty shown, values run from 100.0 down to 84.5, a spread of 15.5. Only 0.1 separates Bhutan from Lesotho in second, 0.1% of the leading figure. Bhutan also came first in 2019. Of the 18 in this table that also reported in 2019, 10 recorded a higher figure than the year before and 5 a lower one. The largest single move was Belize, from 60.2 to 94.3.
