Countries ranked by life expectancy at birth (years) in 2021, using World Bank figures for the 217 countries that reported that year. Hong Kong leads on 85.53, ahead of Monaco (85.11) and Japan (84.45). Life expectancy at birth for the whole population, in years. It is a period measure built from the death rates recorded in that single year, so it describes conditions in that year rather than the lifespan of a child born into it.
