The 20 countries and territories with the most secure internet servers per million people in 2024. The British Virgin Islands leads with 1,443,009 servers per million, ahead of Belize at 464,560 and Denmark at 246,546. A secure server is one using encryption for internet transactions, so the measure tracks how much commercial internet infrastructure a country hosts. Data covers 215 countries and territories.
Analysis
The median country has 970 secure servers per million people, a fraction of the leaders. The ranking rewards countries that host servers rather than merely use them, so small offshore jurisdictions place far above their size - and their figures swing wildly year to year as registrations move, which is why this measure tracks company registration more than real internet infrastructure.
