GDP Growth Rate by Country, 2000-2024
About This Dataset
GDP Growth Rate by Country, 2000-20242020 is the only year in which almost every economy here contracts at once, and the depth varies enormously: the United Kingdom fell 10.0 percent while China still grew 2.3 percent. China never records a negative year anywhere in the series. India ends the period fastest at 7.1 percent in 2024 and is one of only two countries growing faster in 2024 than in 2000, alongside Indonesia. Germany and Japan both finish below zero in 2024, at -0.5 and -0.2 percent. China's high was 14.2 percent in 2007, and its 5.0 percent in 2024 is only its third-lowest reading of the twenty-five years, behind the 2.3 percent of 2020 and the 3.1 percent of 2022.
