Manufacturing Share of GDP by Country, 2004-2021Eleven of the twelve countries ended 2021 with a smaller manufacturing share of GDP than they had in 2004. Mexico is the only one that rose, by 2.0 points to 20.8 percent. Indonesia fell furthest, from 28.1 percent to 19.2 percent, and it did that while its manufacturing output was growing 216.6 percent in dollar terms - the share drops because everything else grew faster still. The United Kingdom ends lowest at 8.7 percent, with France next at 9.1 percent, against 26.6 percent for China and 26.2 percent for South Korea. Even China fell, from 31.5 percent to 26.6 percent, so the country that added the most output also shrank in relative terms.
