Global Manufacturing Output by Year, 1997-2024
About This Dataset
Global Manufacturing Output by Year, 1997-2024World manufacturing output went from 6.15 trillion dollars in 1997 to 16.62 trillion in 2024, 2.70 times its starting level. Only six years in the whole series came in below the year before: 1998, 2001, 2009, 2015, 2019 and 2020. The 2001 reading of 5.85 trillion is the series low and sits below the 1997 starting point, so the first four years of the chart made no net progress at all. The largest single-year gain is 2021, which added 2.42 trillion as output rebounded from 13.74 trillion to 16.16 trillion - and 2022 then landed on exactly the same 16.16 trillion, the only pair of identical consecutive readings in the series.
