Total electricity generated from solar power by country in 2022, in terawatt-hours, as measured by Ember from reported national grid data.
Analysis
China generated 427 TWh of solar electricity in 2022, roughly twice the United States at 205 TWh. India was third at 96 TWh, only just ahead of Japan at 91 TWh - the last year in this series where those two are close, since India would pass 190 TWh by 2025 while Japan stayed near 100. Vietnam at 26 TWh outproduced France and the Netherlands, a remarkable position for a country that generated almost no solar power before 2019. Chile closes the table at 16 TWh.
