Tallest People in Recorded HistoryRobert Wadlow towers over the field at 272 cm, a full 5 cm clear of John Rogan (267 cm) and 8 cm above John F. Carroll (264 cm). The list is heavily American: five of the eight tallest verified people were born in the United States. Beyond the top three there is a tight cluster between 249 cm and 254 cm, where Bernard Coyne, Édouard Beaupré, Väinö Myllyrinne, Sultan Kösen and Don Koehler are separated by only 5 cm. Kösen, the sole living entry at 251 cm, sits inside that pack, showing how extraordinarily rare Wadlow's record remains nearly a century later.
