Countries ranked by the percentage of national electricity generation provided by renewable sources including hydro, wind, solar, and biomass in 2024 according to IRENA and IEA data. Iceland generates virtually all of its electricity from renewable sources — approximately 99% from a combination of geothermal energy and hydropower, giving it one of the cleanest electricity systems on Earth and enabling it to export surplus renewable energy as embodied electricity in aluminium and green hydrogen products.
