About This Dataset

Countries ranked by total length of road infrastructure in 2024, measured in thousands of kilometres according to CIA World Factbook and national transport ministry data. The United States has the world's largest road network at over 6.8 million kilometres — a system built primarily during the post-war Interstate Highway era of the 1950s and 1960s under the Federal Aid Highway Act, which Eisenhower modelled partly on Germany's autobahn network.
