GDP by State 2025

What this chart shows. Gross domestic product of each US state and the District of Columbia in 2025, in billions of current dollars. California had the largest economy at $4,297.4 billion, followed by Texas at $2,932.3 billion and New York at $2,465.7 billion. Vermont ($49.7 billion) and Wyoming ($52.5 billion) had the smallest.

How the data is collected. The figures come from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), table SAGDP1, in the release of September 30, 2026. The BEA defines GDP by state as the sum of value added from all industries in the state.

Background. US GDP was $30.86 trillion in 2025, 5.0% more than in 2024 before adjusting for inflation. California alone produced 13.9% of it, more than the 25 smallest state economies combined, and the four largest states together produced 37.3%.

Limits. These are current-dollar figures, so they include price increases, not only real growth. The September release revised earlier estimates: in the April 2026 figures listed on Wikipedia, US GDP for 2025 was $30.762 trillion, and 21 of the 49 states we could match changed by less than 1%, while Rhode Island was revised up by 5.0%. The state values add up to slightly less than the US total, which also covers federal activity overseas.
