Orbital Launches by Launch Provider 2025

About This Dataset

Orbital Launches by Launch Provider 2025
What this chart shows
The 15 organisations responsible for the most orbital launch attempts in 2025, out of 329 attempts in total. Failed launches are included, because each one was still an attempt to reach orbit.

How the data is collected
The GCAT launch list gives each launch a Launch_Agency code, defined in its documentation as the organisation responsible for launch services, which is often different from the organisation owning the payload. Launches coded as orbital or deep-space attempts were counted for each agency code. One Kuaizhou-1A that the catalog records as failing before ignition is left out, and the result matches McDowell's published total of 329 orbital attempts for the year.

Background
The catalog scores success on a scale from 0 to 1 rather than a simple pass or fail, and treats a score below 0.75 as a failure. A launch that fully succeeds scores 1.00, and one that never reaches orbit scores 0.00. McDowell's statistics also count deep-space launches, meaning those that send objects more than 150,000 km from Earth, within the orbital total.

Limits
China's launches are split across several organisations here: the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the Shanghai Academy of Space Technology and China Long March Rocket Co. each have their own code. Some launches name two agencies, and those appear under the pair rather than under either one, so India's five launches appear as two for ISRO alone, two for ISRO with New Space India Ltd, and one for New Space India Ltd alone, and none of those rows reaches the top 15. Rocket Lab also has two codes, and one Electron launch in December was attributed to Rocket Lab USA rather than Rocket Lab Ltd.
Analysis

SpaceX was responsible for 170 of the 329 orbital launch attempts in 2025, which is 51.7% of the world total. Its count is made up of 165 Falcon 9 launches and five Starship flights. The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology is second with 39, and the Shanghai Academy of Space Technology third with 26; together those two bodies launched 65 times. Rocket Lab Ltd. is fourth with 17. Roscosmos leads Russia's providers with 9, while Arianespace made 7 attempts. The list includes 35 different agency codes, and 16 of them were credited with just one launch.
